Indigenous American authors offer a unique perspective on Christianity. These indigenous authors take their unique cultural backgrounds and bring a new light to Christian theology, spirituality, and values. In Michigan, where Baker Book House is headquartered, there are twelve federally recognized indigenous nations. Of these, the three major indigenous nations are the Chippewa (Ojibwe), the Ottawa (Odawa), and the Potawatomi (Bodéwadmik).
Indigenous Peoples’ Day is celebrated on the second Monday of October, and honors the struggle, both past and present, which these nations face. It also celebrates their achievements and contributions to society.
