For many avid readers, the only thing better than reading a book is talking with others about the book they are reading. As many of our customers know, a book club is a wonderful way to form a community, foster discussion, and deepen your understanding of a book. Whether you have a book club already, or if you’re looking to create a new club, the hardest part can be deciding what to read.
As avid readers ourselves, we have helped many book clubs in choosing the next book to read. Below, we have compiled a list of popular Christian book club picks. Whether you want to browse our thought-provoking non-fiction books or take up a highly entertaining fiction novel, we have the perfect books for you and your group.
A book club, or book discussion club, is formed by a group of individuals who all love to read. Together, the group picks a book to read and will meet regularly to discuss the book. Some book clubs meet weekly and discuss specific chapters. Others meet less regularly and discuss larger chunks of the book at a time.
A book club provides a dedicated space to discuss a book, allowing for thought-provoking discussions about the book you are reading. Some people like book clubs because it provides accountability to finish the books you start. Even if you dislike the book that was chosen, your fellow readers may give you a perspective you didn’t consider. Or, others may agree, and together you can get to the root of why you are disliking a given book.
There are many ways to decide what book to read. You can each nominate a book and vote for the one you want to read next. Some groups take turns choosing a book individually. You can even put a list of books into a hat, and whatever book is drawn out is the book you will read! What is important is that everyone agrees to the process, so nobody feels slighted or left out of the book-choosing process.
